In order to give special attention to the development of the tribal people PMSSS chose to work in tribal villages in Kalvarayan Hills in the year 1980.

Maiyambadi is the hilly village of tribals situated in Kallakurichi Taluk of Villupuram District, where PMSSS established its centre. Mayambadi is surrounded by six other villages namely Pottiyam, Mundiyur, Mathur, Kavviyam, Nathampalli and Palapari.

PMSSS started its welfare and development work in Maiyambadi and its surrounding villages with community health programme. Simultaneously an R.C. Primary school was started to give education to the tribal children. Around 600 tribal families benefit through the education and health programme.

Through non-formal education and training programmes Self Help Groups are organized for men and women who are taught the habit of saving that will enable them to enjoy bank loans for self employment programmes.
